The UAE has been named the busiest country for hotel construction in the MENA region, with 83 properties set to open across the nation in 2018.
The findings were announced as part of the Middle East and Africa Hotel Construction report, commissioned by The Hotel Show Dubai 2017, which marked its 18th edition at the Dubai World Trade Centre last month.
The UAE currently has more than 200 hotel projects in the pipeline, with Dubai (164 projects), Abu Dhabi (25 projects) and Ras al Khaimah (12 projects) the busiest areas for construction.
Anticipated hotel openings include Dubai’s 730-room Rosemont Hotel and Residences, Curio Collection by Hilton and the 812-room Fairmont Abu Dhabi Marina Hotel & Residences.
Ray Tinston – Portfolio Director of Hotel Show organiser DMG Events Middle East, Asia and Africa – said: “The spotlight is firmly on the hospitality industry in this region, particularly the UAE.”
