Oman is gearing up to host the second UNWTO/UNESCO World Conference on Tourism and Culture on December 11 and 12.
This edition of the international conference, to be held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, will focus on cultural tourism and welcome travel industry representatives from around the world.
After the official opening ceremony on day one, Omani Minister of Tourism Ahmed Bin Nasser Al Mahrizi, UNWTO Secretary General Dr. Talib Al Rifai and UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova will deliver keynote addresses. There will also be a discussion on cultural tourism’s role as a peacemaker and a ministerial dialogue on tourism, culture and sustainable development.
Day two will be divided into four principal topics: tourism development and preservation of cultural heritage, culture and tourism in urban development and creativity, discovering the natural cultural destinations in tourism and achieving the objectives of the United Nations Plan for Sustainable Development 2030.
