‘Wild’ man inspires association members

Members of the SITE and ICCA Middle East Chapters have been taught how to think outside of the box when it comes to creating inspiration corporate travel experiences.

SITE Global’s UAE Chapter president Sian Thomas recently arranged an educational and networking session attended by around 40 ICCA and SITE members as well as Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) representatives, which saw guest speaker, Omar Samra, provide an inspirational presentation on how he made his dreams to found the Wild Guanabana travel firm, become a reality.

The company, which specialises in offering non-tradition, life-changing corporate and leisure travel experiences, is also the first carbon-neutral travel firm to operate in the Middle East and North Africa region.

Samra, who is the first Egyptian and youngest Arab to climb Mount Everest, explained how his corporate travel experiences are fun, creative, interactive and inspiring.

“Omar’s personal experience was relevant to the pillars of Site Global in terms on motivational experiences, networking and business results,” said Thomas, who is also director of sales for groups at The Address Hotels + Resorts.

The event took place at the brand new Jumeirah Etihad Tower in Abu Dhabi allowing attendees to check out the property’s meetings infrastructure and credentials.

“The meeting also allowed us to explain to the Abu Dhabi industry the benefits of joining SITE and ICCA and to update current members on what both associations achieved in 2011,” Thomas added.

Similar educational and networking events are planned for 2012, she confirmed.
