Where to stay: The Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) in Doha is not set to open until 2011, but when it does there will be plenty of convenient places for delegates to stay. “There are three hotels planned within Qatar Foundation’s Education City (where the convention centre is based),” says Paul D’Arcy, general manager, QNCC. “A five-star hotel will be located next door to the QNCC and is due for completion in 2012. A four-star hotel with a completion date of 2012/13 will be in close proximity of the Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP) which is linked to the QNCC by a covered walkway.”
Best Feature: The hotels are being built as we speak, but with the investment Qatar is putting into the complex, standards are bound to be high.
What else: According to D’Arcy there will also be a ‘resort-style’ hotel overlooking the proposed golf course in the Education City precinct, but no further info is available on that as yet.
