IMEX attendance breaks record

Post-show figures for IMEX 2010 indicate an increase in long-haul buyers, including a significant number from emerging meetings markets. Long-haul buyers made up nearly 25 percent of the overall buyer mix, a rise of 10 percent compared to 2009. Eastern European buyers also rose from 11.5 percent to 14 percent of the total. Just over 60 percent of the buyers attended from European markets. The total number of visitors, both hosted buyers and trade visitors, was 8,905.

For the first time, buyers from the US represented the third highest proportion of hosted buyers (9.5 percent). The increase is attributed to the show’s ongoing focus on developing strong relations with trade industry associations including MPI, DMAI, ASAE, PCMA and Site, all of which have a strong US pedigree. The launch of IMEX America also appears to have benefited IMEX in Frankfurt as the launch of the new US show encouraged US buyers to travel to experience the IMEX business model.
